We Are a Prophetic Community #2 We are Designed for Love ()
Roger Thrower, August 15, 2021Part of the Prophetic Community series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
Psalm 56:8 - You have kept count of my tossings; (wanderings) put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?
Father God keeps record of your woes, your heart pains, your broken places, and all your sufferings. You are his special child whether you know him yet or not.
Who Is the Greatest?
46 An argument arose among them as to which of them was the greatest. 47 But Jesus, knowing the reasoning of their hearts, took a child and put him by his side
48 and said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all is the one who is great.”
The moment Jesus implies that he will be in trouble at some point, the disciples argue about who will be in charge. Who will run this group of orphans?
Jesus points them to becoming like a child of the Father.
Later of course Jesus further explains this in John 17:21 - that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
Jesus Foretells Peter's Denial
31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, 32 but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”
33 Peter said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death.” 34 Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.”
1 Peter 5:10 - And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
The word “suffered” is the Greek word, which means to experience a sensation or impression (usually painful):—feel, passion, suffer, vex
The word “restore” is the Greek word, which means to mend and to render fit and complete.
The word “confirm” is the Greek word, which means to turn resolutely in a certain direction and to make firm.
The word “strengthen” is the Greek word, which means to make strong in one’s soul.
The word “establish” is the Greek word, which means to lay a foundation and to make stable.
After the experience of pain Father God of all grace who has called you into eternal glory with Jesus Christ will mend you rendering you completely fit by turning you resolutely in his direction making you firm and strong in your soul with a new foundation laid founded upon him so that you are stable.
