We Are a Prophetic Community (Let's go across to the other side) (Luke 8:22-25)
Roger Thrower, August 8, 2021Part of the Prophetic Community series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
A disciple of Jesus is one who freely receives the Father’s love and responds to His presence, evidenced by other-centered love and action.
JESUS CAME TO REVEAL THE FATHER’S LOVE FOR US.
1. Jesus said, “Let us go across the other side.”
2. Jesus fell asleep. There are times when you do not feel connected to the Lord.
3. A windstorm came filling the boat with water putting them in danger. Storms will arise that threaten your safely.
4. They woke him saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing?” Moments will come that are outside of your control and you will believe you are perishing.
5. Jesus rebukes the wind and waves and they cease and are calm. The Lord has all authority over everything.
6. He says, “Where is your faith?” He is raising Father’s Kids to be like him.
7. They were afraid, they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him?” God gives us revelation of who He is.
The Bible is the LET US GO ACROSS TO THE OTHER SIDE book and it introduces us to the LET US GO ACROSS TO THE OTHER SIDE God.
Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Regardless of your current situation, trial, circumstance, time of testing, YOU ARE NOT STAYING THERE. FATHER GOD’S PROPHETIC CHILDREN ARE NEVER STUCK.
God’s plans are for your welfare and not for evil, no matter what you currently face. Father God declares to you that his plans give you a future and a hope.
KJV I know the thoughts I think toward you…
KNOW - Hebrew: yada = to perceive, understand, acquire knowledge, know, discern; as in Jeremiah 1:5 – “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” describes God’s knowledge of man.
THOUGHTS - Hebrew: makh-ash’-aw-baw' = thoughts, devises, plans, intention, purpose, cunning works
THINK - Hebrew: chashav = to count, impute, reckon, to think, plan, make a judgment, imagine. Denotes a weaver. The principal idea is that of using the mind in the activity of thinking, creating new ideas. It is the key theological word in Genesis 15:6 where God registered Abraham’s faith as righteousness. (Romans 4:3)
Plans for welfare and not for evil. If something evil happened to you then it is not from Father God. The devil lied to you and trapped you into thinking that something evil came from Father’s hand. Not so and never so.
Psalm 33:10 – 11 - The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples.
11 The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations.
Esther 8:3 - Then Esther spoke again to the king. She fell at his feet and wept and pleaded with him to avert the evil plan of Haman the Agagite and the plot that he had devised against the Jews.
Esther 9:25 - But when it came before the king, he gave orders in writing that his evil plan that he had devised against the Jews should return on his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.
1 John 3:8 - Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
Destroy - (Loo’o) = to loose any person (or thing) tied or fastened; to loose one bound, i.e. to unbind, release from bonds, set free
