Part of the Knowing Who We Are in Christ series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,       creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord,       who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate,       was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell.       The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven       and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,       the holy catholic* church,       the communion of saints,       the forgiveness of sins,       the resurrection of the body,       and the life everlasting. Amen.

Our very entrance into this profound relationship with God comes to us by an act of faith in his gift of grace given us.
This action of faith starts with:
1. Speaking 2. Believing

Confess – homologeo = To say the same thing as another; to agree with; to declare openly; to speak out freely
Believe – pisteuo = to think to be true, to be persuaded of, place confidence in

Speaking the same thing God says or what is revealed in his Word about us and believing it in your heart is how transformation happens in the follower of Jesus.
