What the Resurrection Means To Who We Are in Christ (Ephesians 1:17-23)

Part of the Knowing Who We Are in Christ series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is proof that Jesus will never die again. Romans 6:9-10 - We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. 10 For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is where he took the sting of death for us. 1 Corinthians 15:54b-55
“Death is swallowed up in victory.” 55 “O death, where is your victory?  O death, where is your sting?”

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the guarantee of our forgiveness of sins. 1 Corinthians 15:17 - If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins..

Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ we have been given the gift of repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel, the Gentiles, and bound believers.

Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we have been given new birth. 1 Peter 1:3 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead….

Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are delivered from the future wrath to come. 1 Thessalonians 1:10 - and to wait for his Son from heaven,
whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we have the certainty of a coming day of judgment. Acts 17:31 - because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”

Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we will also be raised with Jesus. 2 Corinthians 4:14 - knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence.
1 Corinthians 6:14 - And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power.
