Stand (2 Samuel 23:11-12)

Roger Thrower, October 19, 2014
Part of the Spiritual Growth series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

1. STAND SO YOU DON’T FALL BACK.
* For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Gal.5:1
* Slavery = condition of a slave, bondage which consists in decay, slavish sense of fear such as is produced by thoughts of death, devoid of buoyancy of spirit and trust in God

2. STAND SO YOU DON’T TRIP UP.
*Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. Eph. 6:11
* Scheme = follow up and investigate by method and settled plan. The devil follows craftily and frames devices to deceive.

3. STAND SO YOU DON’T GIVE UP.
* Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Eph. 6:13
* Evil = full of labors, annoyances, hardships; pressed and harassed by labors; bringing toils, a time of peril to Christian faith and steadfastness; causing pain and trouble.

4. PRAY FOR OTHERS TO STAND.
* Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, greets you, always struggling on your behalf in his prayers, that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God. Col. 4:12
