The God of Lost Causes (Luke 13:1-17)
Roger Thrower, November 8, 2015Part of the Ultimate Hope series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
Our Lord is the God of lost causes because He is:
1. Patient.
* The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but
that all should reach repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
* A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not quench, until be brings justice to victory; and in his name Gentiles
will hope. Matthew 12:20-21
2. Stronger.
* Luke 13:10-17
* When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are safe; but when one stronger than he attacks him and overcomes him, he takes away his armor in which he trusted and divides his spoil. Luke 11:21
* Isaiah 45:1-5
3. Your Substitute.
* Genesis 21:8-21 (Ultimate lost cause?)
* For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45
* God has a purpose for your mistakes.
