Discovering Your Treasures in God's Word (Deuteronomy 29:29)

Part of the The Word of God series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

One of the hidden secrets that was revealed to us all came to pass when Jesus came to earth, born of a virgin, was crucified, buried, was resurrected, ascended into heaven at the right hand of God, and sent the Holy Spirit to fill his church with his love and power for us to live in.

Ephesians 3:7-12 NLT - By God’s grace and mighty power, I have been given the privilege of serving him by spreading this Good News.
8 Though I am the least deserving of all God’s people, he graciously gave me the privilege of telling the Gentiles about the endless treasures available to them in Christ. 9 I was chosen to explain to everyone this mysterious plan that God, the Creator of all things, had kept secret from the beginning.
10 God’s purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. 11 This was his eternal plan, which he carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord.
12 Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.

Revelation 2:17 - He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone that no one knows except the one who receives it.’

Father God, in Jesus’ name, I thank you for revealing to me all that I am to you. Thank you for loving me completely. I choose fully open my heart, eyes, ears, and life to you. I turn from the ways of this present world to walk with you fully. I need your help and continuous flow of grace in my life. Thank you for empowering me to abide in you.

Let me show you the revelation the King David received concerning God knowing who you are and your purpose.

Psalm 139:16 - Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

God has a personal destiny for you to fulfill in Christ.

Jeremiah learned this truth of his destiny in the Lord.
Jeremiah 1:5 - “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Paul was enlightened by the Lord the same way.
Galatians 1:15-16 - But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace, 16 was pleased to reveal his Son to me, in order that I might preach him among the Gentiles….

This revelation of our destiny in Christ is declared to us by Paul.
Ephesians 2:10 - For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Workmanship is the Greek word “poiema” meaning something that is made.
In Christ you are transformed from ‘a piece of work’ into ‘a work of art.’ In Christ you are transformed from ‘negative graffiti’ into ‘poetry in motion.’

When you learn to abide in Christ and draw upon his life within you, which is your relationship with the Holy Spirit, He make His Word come alive to you and reveals passages of scripture to you that build you up, guide you, develop you, and inspire you.
