The Path to Completeness Part 2 (James 1:12-18)
Roger Thrower, November 9, 2014Part of the Spiritual Maturity series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
God rewards those who are steadfast under trial with the crown of life. Want one? Then you must:
1. LOOK UP.
*Maintain a thankful attitude. Just as you cannot worship and worry at the same time, you cannot be thankful and complain at the same time. Counting it all joy. Joy is a deep inner assurance that God is working in your life regardless of what is going on.
* James 1:2-4
2. STAND UP.
* Your heart determines the course curriculum that you are tested on.
*12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is
fully grown brings forth death.
3. WISE UP.
* Live the way you know you should because wisdom is all about good conduct and character.
* Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. James 3:13
