Worshiping God (John 4:23-24)

Roger Thrower, July 21, 2019
Part of the The Authority of God's Word series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

1. Spiritual worship is physically expressed through presenting your body to God sacrificially.

Romans 12:1 - I appeal to you, therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

2. Spiritual worship is relational. It is based on who God is and what he has done for you.

Matthew 14:33 - And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

Luke 7:47 - Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.”

3. Spiritual worship is transformative. You become like what you worship.

Romans 12:1-2 - I appeal to you, therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

You cannot do verse two without doing verse one.
