Am I Good Soil? Part 3 The Thorn Choked (Mark 4:18-19)

1. Thorns choke out the Word of God and make it unfruitful.
2. What is choking the Word of God out of you and making you unfruitful?
A. Cares of this world – to be drawn in different directions, to divide the mind
1 Peter 5:7 - casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
B.Deceitfulness of riches – delusion, deceivableness
1 Timothy 6:10 - For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
C. Desire for other things – a longing for what is forbidden
James 1:14-15 -But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.
D. Pleasure of this life – sensual delight
Hebrews 11:25 - choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.
