Bethlehem Moments (Luke 2:8-20)

Roger Thrower, December 6, 2015
Part of the Advent Season series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

“Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”

Bethlehem moments are moments of:

1. Restoration.
* The Book of Ruth – The kinsman-redeemer is a male relative who, according to various laws of the Old Testament, had the privilege or responsibility to act of behalf of a relative who was in trouble, danger, or need.
* Jesus is our kinsman redeemer.

2. New Birth.
* John 3:1-8
* Here’s how the good news works: Someone shares the good news with someone else and they check it out and encounter the living Christ.

3. New Beginnings.
* Luke 4:18
* What does it look like to be like Jesus? You can shower healing grace on imperfect people; comfort the outcasts; nurture and restore those who fail. Be friends with those who are struggling. Cherish and honor people.
