The War We Are In (Acts 10:30-48)

Part of the Life in the Word Series series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence and the violent take it by force. -Matthew 11:12.
The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every though captive to obey Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:4-4

To wage war me must understand that:

1. Jesus sees what we have not seen: our value to Him.
* Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Mat. 6:26
* The true value of anything is established by the highest price a person will pay for it.
* knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb
without blemish or spot. 1 Peter 1:18-19

2. Jesus knows the root problem of our situation: sin, self, Satan.
*Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8
* The power of God is for where the power of God is needed.

3. Jesus has authority over the devil and imparts it to us.
* Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Luke 10:19
