Part of the Spiritual Maturity series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

As a Navy SEAL receives a sliver or bronze star for acts of valor, so you and I receive the Crown of Life when remain steadfast under trial. There are basic requirements like maintaining a joyful and thankful attitude, persevering, and asking God for wisdom that insure our success. There are three tests we must pass to become complete lacking nothing and to be candidates for the Crown of Life.

YOU WILL BE TESTED ON:
1. YOUR VIEW OF THE CHARACTER OF GOD.
* God is always good. He does not author your temptations.
* Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. Every good and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
James 1:16-17, Mark 4:16-17

2. YOUR OWN CHARACTER TO LIVE WHAT YOU BELIEVE.
* Your faith must be expressed through your actions.
* But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22, James 2:14-26

3. YOUR ABILITY TO CONTROL YOUR TONGUE.
* You must control your tongue or your faith is worthless.
* If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. James 1:26, James 3:1-12
