Crossing Over (Joshua 3:1-17)

Roger Thrower, August 24, 2014
Part of the Going All In series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

God’s instructions to His people in crossing over into the Promised Land:

1. Set yourself apart for God.
*Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you. Joshua 3:5
*Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17* *Pray – give - serve

2. Act in faith.
*And when the soles of the feet of the priests bearing the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from flowing, and the waters coming down from above shall stand in one heap. Joshua 3:13
*What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?
James 2:14

3. Experience God’s miracle provision.
*Now the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firmly on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan, and all Israel was passing over on dry ground until all the nation finished passing over the Jordan. Joshua 3:17
*Examples of Abraham’ Ishmael and Zachariah’s doubt: God fulfilled his promise
