More of the Lord or Less? (1 Peter 2:4-12)

Roger Thrower, December 27, 2015
Part of the Advent Season series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

1. Have you purposely chosen to be with the Lord more?
* 1 Peter 2:4-12
Everybody is building life on some cornerstone. If you don’t build on Jesus you build on something. When the chips are down what do you look to?
* Here’s the catch: Anything you look to other than him, say business, romance, or pleasure of some sort, becomes an idol. The incomplete joys of the world will never satisfy the human heart.

2. What are you choosing to meditate upon?
* Psalm 1
* Your religion is what you do with your solitude. Worry and daydreaming are forms of meditation.
You already meditate and don’t realize it. Meditation affects your heart foundationally.
Fuel your meditation with the Word of God.

3. Will you return to the Lord and call upon him?
* Genesis 13:3-4
* Is God calling you back to where he wants you? Are you relying on him more?
