Inspiring Seeking Hearts to Enter the Life-Giving Presence of Jesus Christ

Finding God’s Love Within the Pages

In the midst of leading worship with the presence of God so sweetly and powerfully flowing in and around us, I suddenly saw a picture in my mind’s eye.  I saw a gathering up of the fragments of the broken pieces of fish and each broken fragment being put into a basket.  I thought to myself, “What does this picture have to do with anything we are doing right now?”  But I know the way of the Holy Spirit with me.  I told the congregation that I had a picture in my mind of the Lord gathering up the broken fragments of fish into baskets.  Immediately the understanding came, and the next part flowed out:  “So I the Lord am gathering up the broken pieces of your life–everything that has been broken, yes, every fragment where you have felt torn apart.  I am gathering them up, because nothing you have gone through will be wasted.  To the contrary, the broken places in your life will be used to nourish others.”  Tears fell from some eyes, hope filled the atmosphere in the room, and once again God in His sovereign love and power encouraged His people.

God is doing what only He can do, restoring our deepest pains in life and then declaring that what God has restored in our lives will be used to bring restoration to someone else’s life.  Nothing is wasted when God redeems us.   In fact, God is glorified when we reveal where He has restored us.  The Holy Spirit bears witness to others’ hearts that God indeed did this and that He can help them as well.

As we “read” about Jesus as He is revealed within the pages of God’s Word, we can also ”enter” into this reality of His grace freely given to us.  The same God who declares that He will give beauty for ashes in Isaiah 61:3 reaches to heal the burned out places in your soul.  Somehow He does it.  He takes a burned out you and makes a grace-filled work of art that is beautiful to behold.  I know.  I see Him do it in those who come desiring for Him to work in their lives.  In an atmosphere of love and confidentiality, people will brave opening up their vulnerable places to God.

As you read His word, enter His presence.  Open to Jesus who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  His love is best when resting deep within you.

Psalm 124:4-8

1 4 Then the waters would have overwhelmed us,
The stream would have gone over our soul;
5 Then the swollen waters
Would have gone over our soul.”
6 Blessed be the LORD,
Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
7 Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers;
The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.
